Joliet Junior College (JJC) automotive service technology professor Curt Ward has received the 2026 Friends of NACAT Award from the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT).
“The award was a complete surprise,” Ward said. “I am honored to be recognized by my peers. I am fortunate to be able to give back to an industry that has given so much to me and my family.”
According to Ward, the Friends of NACAT Award recognizes “an individual or organization who has given back in a significant way to NACAT and its members.” The JJC professor credits the recognition to his long service to the group.
Ward has served as NACAT president, vice president and secretary. In addition, he’s written for the NACAT newsletter, does technical presentations at the organization’s annual summer conference and participates in bi-monthly virtual mentor roundtable meetings.
While winning awards is an honor, Ward simply strives to help others through his work.
“My goal as an educator and author is to make an impact on students and educators,” Ward said. “My hope is that the work I do in the classroom will improve the lives of the students at JJC. My hope is that my presentations and written work will help instructors do the same across North America.”
