Welcome to Joliet Junior College!
Joliet Township High School superintendent J. Stanley Brown wanted more for his students after high school. Even in 1901, he saw that many of them couldn't afford the price of a higher education. Knowing that his students possessed ability, but lacked the resources for college, together with University of Chicago President William Rainey Harper, Brown created Joliet Junior College: the first community college in the nation.
Since its inception in 1901, JJC has set the standard for providing a quality education to students from all backgrounds. Today, JJC strives to be the first choice for every student: from recent high school grads to returning adults and community members.
Today, Joliet Junior College has state-of-the-art facilities located in Joliet, Romeoville, Morris, and Frankfort. Pursue your future without limits by joining 16,000 students of diverse backgrounds and ages and the opportunity of choosing from one of more than 184 programs of study, many of which are distinguished and award winning.
Our small classes ensure that students receive personal attention from our dedicated faculty, 80 percent of whom have Master’s degree or higher in their field of expertise. In addition, our affordable tuition means you can get a quality education without incurring huge amounts of student debt.
To meet your needs and schedule, we offer classes at a variety of times and locations—even online. There are traditional classes that meet during weekdays, evening classes, weekend classes, extension site classes, online classes and hybrid classes.
