JJC Representatives Visit Washington, D.C. for National Summit

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) held its National Legislative Summit Feb. 11 – 14, bringing hundreds of trustees, presidents, and other community college administrators from across the country to Washington, D.C. to advocate for several higher education legislative priorities on Capitol Hill.

JJC President Dr. Judy Mitchell, Board of Trustees Vice Chairwoman Maureen Broderick, Student Trustee Sante Deserio, and Executive Director of Communications and Marketing Kelly Rohder-Tonelli attended the conference and met with several legislators to discuss issues related to Title III grant funding and reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. View photos from their visit.

The JJC group met with Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Tammy Duckworth, Congressman Bill Foster, a representative from Congressman Randy Hultgren’s office, and a representative from the U.S. Department of Education to discuss progress of the college’s Title III grant.
