Candidate Forum Sponsored by Student Government March 23
The JJC Student Government hosted a virtual Board of Trustees Candidate Forum on Tuesday, March 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This forum was available in a Live Event link for students, employees and the public to view. It was recorded and is now available. Physical attendance was limited to the candidates and the selected students. All questions were submitted by and presented by members of student government.

First day to circulate nominating petitions.

First day for candidates to file nominating petitions in the office of the local election official from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Nominating petitions must contain original sheets signed by voters and circulators.
|December 21, 2020||
Last day for filing nominating petitions in the office of the local election official. Office hours will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Nominating petitions must contain original sheets signed by voters and circulators. A minimum of 50 signatures are required but more are recommended.
The Statement of Economic Interest must be filed on or before this date with the County Clerk’s office and the receipt must be filed on or before this date with the local election official who received the nomination papers.
A receipt will be issued to you by the local election official or designee upon receipt of nominating packet documents.

When two or more petitions are simultaneously filed for the same office as of the opening hour of the filing period, the local election official shall break ties and determine the order of filing by means of a lottery. The lottery shall be conducted within 9 days after the last day of the petition filing period and is open to the public. Per P.A. 97-1044 (Effective January 1, 2013) and P.A 98-115 (Effective July 29, 2013), 2 or more petitions filed within the last hour of the filing deadline (between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the last filing day) shall be deemed filed simultaneously and are included in the lottery drawing to determine the final ballot position. If necessary, a lottery drawing will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the Board Room (A-3104), 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet, Illinois for positions on the ballot of Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees.
Those attending the lottery should enter through Building A and proceed directly to the Board Room. Masks are required and a temperature screening will be conducted upon entrance.

Number of open positions
Three six-year Trustee terms are up for election.
Petitions for the office of Joliet Junior College District 525 Trustee are to be filed in the local election official's office, A-3113 between December 14-21, 2020 during the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. On the last day of filing, December 21, 2020, hours to file are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. The following documents must be on file and properly notarized:
- Statement of Candidacy
- Nominating Petition Sheets totaling 50 or more signatures
- Receipt for filing a Statement of Economic Interest with the County Clerk specifically for the office of Joliet Junior College trustee
- Loyalty Oath – optional

The nominating petition sheets must total 50 or more signatures.
- Statement of Economic Interest
The Statement of Economic Interest is required by the Governmental Ethics Act and is to be filed with the County Clerk, the principal office of the unit of government. This document must indicate the position for which the candidate is filing the statement of economic interest. The document must be filed on or before December 21, 2020 with the County Clerk's office and the receipt must be filed on or before this date with the local election official who received the candidate’s nomination papers.
