The First Year Experience Team welcomes you to the JJC family at New Student Orientation and then provides support throughout your first year and beyond. We collaborate with other JJC departments to offer workshops, lunches, and events focused on helping you adjust to college life and meet your educational goals.

  • New Student Orientation (NSO)

    Set yourself up for success by completing a New Student Orientation. NSO is an important first step towards college success. During NSO you will learn about Joliet Junior College's academic programs, student support services, registration, payment options and how to get started as a JJC student.

  • First Year Advising

    Joliet Junior College has a knowledgeable and energetic staff ready to guide you throughout your first year of college. FYE Advisors are here to assist you with orientation, course selection, help you navigated JJC resources, and to assist you in accomplishing your academic goals. First Year Career Pathway Coaches work with new undecided students and provide assistance with course planning and career exploration. Our Transfer Specialist helps prepare students planning to transfer to another school after JJC by offering information sessions and transfer events. Be sure to schedule an appointment with an Advisor every semester to create and update your educational plan!

  • Transfer Exploration and Planning

    Planning to transfer to another school after JJC? Be sure to start the process early! The decisions that you make in your very first semester may significantly impact your transfer plan. The first step in transfer exploration and planning is to attend a Transfer Info Session. There you will learn how to shop for schools, learn about special university partnerships, and how to find transfer school requirements. Be sure attend the many transfer events and fairs that we offer throughout the academic year. See the Transfer Information page for a list of transfer events and resources.

  • First Year Events

    The Office of First Year Experience in collaboration with other JJC departments offers a variety of workshops, lunches, and events throughout the academic year to help students get connected and learn about helpful resources on campus. Attend our events to meet other students and get acquainted with JJC Faculty and Staff committed to your success!
