Welcome to Joliet Junior College!
JJC is Proud to be the First Community College
Joliet Township High School superintendent J. Stanley Brown wanted more for his students after high school. Even in 1901, he saw that many of them couldn't afford the price of a higher education. Knowing that his students possessed ability, but lacked the resources for college, together with University of Chicago President William Rainey Harper, Brown created Joliet Junior College: the first community college in the nation.
Since its inception in 1901, JJC has set the standard for providing a quality education to students from all backgrounds. Today, JJC strives to be the first choice for every student: from recent high school grads to returning adults and community members.
