Have you ever been a situation when you want to help, but you don’t know how? It’s more common than you think, it’s known as the bystander effect. Learn how you can help others and join the Step Up program at JJC.
You can attend a Step Up! training:
Thursday, February 13th
Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. Teaching people about the determinants of prosocial behavior makes them more aware of why they sometimes don’t help. As a result they are more likely to help in the future.
The goals of Step UP are to:
1. Raise awareness of helping behaviors
2. Increase motivation to help
3. Develop skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns
4. Ensure the safety and well-being of self and others
