The Summer 2024 application is now open through August 8th for students who will be completing their degree or certificate requirements during the Summer 2024 semester, and for those who missed the Spring 2024 deadline.

Commencement Ceremony Information                    

The 2024 Commencement Ceremony will be held on May 17, 2024 at 4:00PM in the Joliet Junior College Event Center on the Main Campus.

The ceremony will honor Summer 2023 and Fall 2023 graduates, as well as prospective Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 graduates.

The number of guest tickets per graduate will be announced closer to the ceremony date, as it will depend on the total number of participating graduates.

  • Guest Information

    ADMITTANCE
    The unique bar code on your ticket allows only one entry to the event. Any person occupying a seat must present a ticket for admittance. Children under the age of 2 who will sit in a lap during the entire ceremony do not require a ticket. 

    Doors to the Event Center will open at 2:00PM. The Commencement Ceremony will begin at 4:00PM.

    Guests are to arrive before 3:45PM. Guests arriving after 3:45PM will not be allowed to enter the Event Center until after the graduates have been seated.   

    GENERAL INFORMATION
    There is no assigned seating. Please make sure not to leave any unoccupied seats, as we need to accommodate all guests.

    Please remain seated for the entire ceremony. The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours. There will be no re-entry into the Event Center.

    No concealed weapons or firearms are allowed in the Event Center.

    Please note the following items are prohibited: balloons, outside food and beverages, and gum.

    The concession stand will be open prior to the ceremony, but will close at 3:45pm.
      
    Guests are NOT permitted to approach the stage to take photos.

    ACCOMODATIONS
    Guests who need an accessible entrance are asked to use the southeast doors of the Event Center. 

    There will be a designated area for accessible seating. One additional guest per each individual needing accessible seating will be allowed to sit in this area. 

    Sign language interpreters will be translating throughout the ceremony. 

    COMMENCEMENT VIEWING
    Friends and Family of the graduates will be able to view a live stream of the Commencement Ceremony on JJC’s YouTube channel through a direct link on www.jjc.edu which will be available the day of the ceremony.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
    If weather permits, a photo booth will be available for graduates and their guests PRIOR to the ceremony. 

    There will be flowers and gifts available for purchase at the Event Center.

    LifeTouch will be taking professional photos of the graduates which will be available for purchase online.

    Please be conscious of ongoing construction on and around the JJC campus. Please allow ample time for arrival. Doors will open to graduates and guests at 2PM. Graduates must check in no later than 3:30PM.
