The Joliet Junior College Faculty Jazz Quintet will perform a virtual concert broadcast as part of its Musica Viva Concert Series on Sunday, April 18 at 3 p.m. The performance will take place via Zoom.
The ensemble is directed by saxophonist Professor Rich Moore. This concert will be co-directed by pianist Professor David Nuccio who is combining this event as a partial requirement for completion of a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in jazz piano performance at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
The repertoire will include selections from John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Kenny Barron, Duke Jordan and more with arrangements created by the jazz faculty quintet. Carefully chosen, each selection has a challenging uniqueness whether it be in the melody, harmony, rhythm or structural form. These characteristics require a high awareness of creativity from the performers. An original work will also be included in the concert.
