The Northern Illinois Food Bank will host a drive-thru pop-up market at Joliet Junior College's Main Campus on Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as part of the food bank’s ongoing COVID-19 response.
Anyone in need of food assistance during this uncertain time is welcome to attend. No identification or proof of address or income is required to receive food. The market will be located in parking lot E3, at JJC's Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road.
The food bank expects to serve up to 1,000 families at the distribution.
Those attending will not leave their vehicles—volunteers on site will load boxes of pre-packed food directly into their vehicle. Each family will receive a mix of fresh produce, protein, dairy, and fresh milk.
The Food Bank has hosted Pop-Up Market food distributions since April to help meet the rising need in the community due to COVID-19. In the month of June alone, the Food Bank distributed 484,000 meals to more than 10,000 families through Pop-Up Markets.
