MIS professionals collect and analyze data in various formats.  The field of management information systems involves applying computer technology, quantitative techniques, and administrative skills to the information processing requirements of organizations.

What Will I Learn?

This degree program provides extensive hands-on experience in Microsoft Office applications.  The capstone course of the degree (CIS 235) prepares students to take the Microsoft Office Specialist certification.

Since this highly recognized certification is sought after by companies and corporations, its highly valuable to have on a resume.  As with any technical career, continual update of skills is critical to future job growth.

What is Unique about Management Information Systems?

Information technology professionals are among the most sought-after talent in the job market today, and companies are seeking candidates with solid speaking and writing skills because presentations to clients and working with sales and marketing teams are part of the normal job requirements.

There is strong demand for professionals with experience in so-called “enterprise-wide solutions.”  Industry experience is a plus, but not necessary to land good job offers.  All the major consulting firms are competing for systems analysis talent.

Faculty in JJC's MIS program understand this dynamic, and have tailored the curriculum to ensure that students are well-prepared for the lucrative job opportunities this field has to offer.
