Consistency has been an issue for the Joliet Junior College men’s soccer team this season. They win a couple games and then lose a couple games.

The Wolves shut out N4C conference opponent Kankakee Community College 2-0, in their most recent game on Oct. 7. The win pushed their record to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in the N4C. Midfielder Andrew Beltran and forward Maberik Martinez scored for the Wolves and goalkeeper Robert Reyes had four saves.

The Wolves fell to Morton College 3-1 on Oct. 3. Beltran had the team’s lone goal, and goalkeeper Eriberto Gonzalez had a busy day in the net with six saves.

Prior to the game against Morton, the Wolves were defeated by N4C opponent Madison Area Technical College 4-1 on Sept. 30. Beltran scored the lone goal and was assisted by Troy Behning. Reyes had 2 saves at goal.

Sophomore forward Arturo Rios is having a big year for the Wolves. He is leading the team in scoring with nine goals and 19 points. Sophomore midfielder Ahmad Rashid is leading the team in assists with four and goalkeepers Reyes and Gonzalez have recorded 26 and 24 saves, respectively.

With three games left in the regular season, the Wolves will look to finish strong in preparation for the Region IV Tournament which starts on Oct. 24.

The Wolves will look to get back to .500 on Oct. 14, when they travel to N4C opponent Harper College. Game-time is scheduled for 4 p.m. The final home game of the year is Oct. 19 against Waubonsee Community College. Game-time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
