The Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department Theatre will present Mother Courage and Her Children on Thursday, November 12 through Saturday November 14 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts theatre located on the first floor of "K" building on main campus.
Mother Courage and her Children, written by Bertolt Brecht, used short scenes, songs, drama and comic interludes that follow Anna Fierling (Mother Courage)and her three children as they attempt to make their living during the Thirty Years' War. Written in response to the rise of the Nazi party in pre-World War II Germany, the play is considered by some critic to be among the greatest anti-war dramas of all time.
The play is directed by faculty member Dr. Zachary Bloomfield with scenic design by long time staff member Nicki Blowers and lighting design by adjunct faculty member Julie Giampaolo. Mark Parker of Wilmington will stage manage this production assisted by Paige Hutchinson of Joliet. Faculty member Tammy Perkins will play Mother Courage. Other cast members include James Jagos, David Laurich, Amber Lebeda, Zach Lofdahl, Kelsie Rae Lofdahl, Janina Jaskowiak, Tom Corp, Sylmarie Soto, Brian Winfield and Shane Tierney of Joliet, Victor Flores, Amanda Mariotti, Aaron Curry and Helen Levy of Plainfield, Jonathan Franson, Matthew Vuckovich and Nathan Borowski of Mokena, Jillian J. Kallibach of New Lenox, Kyle Wynn and Mark A. Wietting of Morris, Bailey Dunbar of Braceville, Brittney Lutz of Wilmington, Taylor Murphy of Braidwood, Tori Buckley of Frankfort, Travis Cisco of Crest Hill and David Doherty of Naperville.
Ticket prices are $8.00 for General Public and $5.00 for Senior Citizens and $3.00 for JJC Students with additional discounts available for Non-JJC Students and JJC staff and faculty. Reservations can be made by calling 815-280-2200. As part of the college’s ongoing community service project, audience members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the production where they may be exchanged for items at the concession table. All contributions will be donated to area shelters.
