Lady Wolves fall to Illinois Central

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated by Illinois Central College by a score of 98-33 in the season opener. Le'royia Campbell had 12 points, while Samantha Wurtz finished with 10 points, including three 3-point shots. Laporshia Williams and LaNisha Cruickshank had five rebounds each. "This was a learning experience for our team," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We need to be ready to show up and face great competition each game." JJC (0-1 overall) travels to Kirkwood Community College on Friday, November 8, 2013. Game time is 7:30 pm.

Kirkwood too much for Lady Wolves

The JJC women's basketball team dropped an 85-43 decision to Kirkwood Community College. Samantha Wurtz finished with 9 points (3-4 3PM). Kanitral Averhart and Brittany McWaine had 8 points each. "We are a young team and are going to make mistakes," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "Once we cut back on the turnovers, we should improve greatly." JJC (0-2 overall) faces Iowa Central Community College on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in day two of the Kirkwood CC tournament. Game time is 1:00 pm.

JJC falls to Iowa Central

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated by Iowa Central Community College by a score of 69-52. Samantha Wurtz scored 21 points for the Lady Wolves including six 3-point shots. Le'royia Campbell finished with 17 points (4-3PM). Laporshia Williams grabbed 8 rebounds for Joliet. "We cut our turnovers in half today compared to our last game," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "For the most part, we played much better. We just came up short towards the end." JJC (0-3 overall) hosts Prairie State College on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Game time is 5:00 pm.

The JJC women's basketball team defeated Prairie State College by a score of 60-47. Samantha Wurtz scored 21 points in the contest including five 3-pointers. Le'royia Campbell finished with 12 points followed by Brittany McWaine with 9 points and 14 rebounds. "It looks like that we are finally settling into this season," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team fell to Lake Michigan College by a score of 67-42. Karlisa Harris had 15 points to pace the Lady Wolves. Laporshia Williams had a team-high 12 rebounds in the contest. "We had a nice come back effort in the first half after being down 21-2," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We got it back to within 3 points, but seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the game." JJC (1-4 overall) travels to McHenry County College on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The JJC women's basketball team defeated McHenry County College by a score of 62-40. LaNisha Cruickshank led the way with 18 points including four 3-point shots. Alexis Oglesby and Brittany McWaine finished with 9 points each. Laporschia Williams had a team-high 11 rebounds. "We are building on each and every game," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team fell to Kishwaukee College by a score of 80-48. Alexis Oglesby led the team with 13 points. Kanitral Averhart finished with 11 points. "We played really sluggish tonight," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We really need to move more on offense to get better shots." Illinois Valley edges out Lady Wolves in OT

The JJC women's basketball team was defeated by Illinois Valley Community College by a score of 74-73 in overtime. Samantha Wurtz led the way with 16 points including four 3-point shots. Kanitral Averhart had 12 points and 6 assists, while Le'royia Campbell finished with 11 points and 6 assists. Brittany McWaine added 11 points. Laporschia Williams had a career high 22 rebounds in the contest. "We played very well this game," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We had a season low of turnovers and battled well with Illinois  Valley. Unfortunately we were only 11-20 from the free throw line and that was the difference in the game." The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team posted a 79-63 victory over Olive-Harvey College. Brittany McWaine led the way with 18 points. Kanitral Averhart scored 15 points, while Le'royia Campbell had 13 points. Alexis Oglesby posted 12 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. Laporschia Williams had a team-high 12 rebounds. "We seem to finally settle into our roles on the floor," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "It was a great road win for us." JJC (3-6 overall) hosts Daley College on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Alexis Oglesby had 9 points, while Le'royia Campbell and Bernasia Fox both finished with 8 points. "Our defensive pressure was great tonight," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated by N4C conference opponent Madison College by a score of 68-65 in overtime. Le'royia Campbell led the way with 19 points followed by Kanitral Averhart with 17 points. Brittany McWaine earned a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. "We had a slow start in the first half of the game," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We battled back in the second half and forced it to overtime. The girls never gave up and were determined." "We played very well this game and led going into the half," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We had two injuries in the second half which took two of our guards out of the game and that was a huge factor." The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team dropped a 75-40 decision to N4C conference opponent Rock Valley College. Rosalinda Vasquez scored 14 points for the Lady Wolves. Laporschia Williams added 9 points and 9 rebounds. "This was a tough game," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We have had some injuries that have forced players out of their normal positions. The JJC women's basketball team fell to N4C conference opponent College of DuPage by a score of 77-38. Brittany McWaine had 14 points, while Laporschia Williams added 9 points in the contest. "This was a tough game with only having five players due to multiple team injuries," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We played better in the second half, but didn't shoot very well for the game." JJC (12-18 overall, 7-7 N4C) takes on the College of DuPage in the Region IV Quarterfinal on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Game time is 5:00 pm at tournament host College of DuPage.

DuPage knocks JJC out of tournament

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated by the College of DuPage in the Region IV quarterfinal game by a score of 65-53. Laporschia Williams had a team-high 18 points in the contest. Brittany McWaine scored 10 points and had 14 rebounds. Alexis Oglesby added 10 points in the contest. "This was a rough season with so many injuries," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "I am proud of our girls and how they kept playing each game hard and never gave up." JJC finished their season with a 12-19 overall record and a 7-7 N4C conference record.
