Lady Wolves fall in season opener

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team was defeated by Illinois Central College in the season opener by a score of 85-67. Keairra Collins led the Lady Wolves with 18 points and 8 rebounds followed by Celestra Warren with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Brianna Marble had a team-high 10 rebounds. "This was a great test right out of the gate," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We kept it close through the first half, but ran out of steam towards the end of the game." JJC (0-1 overall) travels to the Kirkwood Community College tournament on Friday, November 4, 2011. Game time is 6:00 pm.

The JJC women's basketball team fell to Kirkwood Community College by a score of 74-35. Celestra Warren led all scorers with 8 points, as Keairra Collins finished with 7 points. "We had way too many turnovers tonight," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We also need to improve on our free throw shooting." Iowa Central's hot shooting burns Lady Wolves

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team dropped a 97-54 decision to Iowa Central Community College. Celestra Warren led the Lady Wolves with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Danasha Jenkins had 7 points, while Keairra Collins finished with 6 points. "Iowa Central is the best shooting team that we have seen this season," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The JJC women's basketball team was defeated by Prairie State College by a score of 56-50 in their home opener. DeAnna Evans led the Lady Wolves with 12 points, as Keairra Collins earned 11 points in the contest. Celestra Warren finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds. "We need to move the ball more on offense and get everyone involved," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We are still learning to play together this year, but things are looking up." Lady Wolves get first win of the season

The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team earned their first victory of the season with a 69-59 victory over Kennedy-King College. Keairra Collins led the way with 25 points including five 3-point shots. Celestra Warren scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds, while Adjoa Matthews earned 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jameka Evans had 10 rebounds in the contest. "It feels good to get our first win this season," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We still have a ways to go, but are improving each day." The JJC women's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Kishwaukee College by a score of 70-69. Danasha Jenkins and Celestra Warren both scored 14 points each. Warren also recorded 8 rebounds and 6 steals in the contest. Keairra Collins had 10 points, while Alana Warren added 8 points. "We are starting to pull it together as a team," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "Everyone is learning their role and starting to execute well." The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team defeated Illinois Valley Community College by a score of 76-71. Sophomore Celestra Warren led the way with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Adjoa Matthews had 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Keairra Collins added 9 points. "We were down 10 points at halftime," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The JJC women's basketball team defeated McHenry County College by a score of 79-58. Celestra Warren scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds. Danasha Jenkins and Adjoa Matthews both scored 13 points, while Keairra Collins added 10 points. "We had a slow start, but we got into the rhythm in the second half," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team fell to Moraine Valley Community College by a score of 70-61. Celestra Warren led the Lady Wolves with 17 points followed by Danasha Jenkins with 15 points. Adjoa Matthews earned a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jameka Evans pulled down 9 rebounds in the contest. "We dug ourselves into a hole by halftime," Head Coach Shaun Sanderson said. "We had a great come back in the second half, but we just fell short." The JJC women's basketball team was defeated by Parkland College with a 58-56 score. Keairra Collins paced the Lady Wolves with 17 points, including four 3-point shots. The Joliet Junior College women's basketball team edged out Olive-Harvey College by a score of 74-73. Sophomore Celestra Warren led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.
