Lady Wolves earn 1st victory of the season

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team opened up the 2014 season at the annual Kankakee Community College volleyball tournament. In game one, the Lady Wolves defeated Malcolm X College by a score of 25-13, 25-12, 25-7. Madeline Hipp had 11 kills and 12 digs, as Jalyn Vertin earned 7 kills. Setter BriHanna Sawin tallied 22 assists. In game two, Kaskaskia College topped Joliet by a score of 16-25, 17-25, 7-25. Madeline Hipp had 7 kills, as BriHanna Sawin added 17 assists. "I thought we played ok today," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "I would like to see us be more aggressive on our swings." JJC (1-1 overall) continues play at the Kankakee CC tournament on Saturday, August 23, 2014.

JJC has rough outing at Kankakee tournament

The JJC volleyball team continued play at the Kankakee CC volleyball tournament for day two. The Lady Wolves dropped a three game set to John A. Logan College with a score of 14-25, 15-25, 10-25. Mary Warren had 5 kills and Jalyn Vertin had 4 kills in the contest. BriHanna Sawin earned 14 assists. In game two, McHenry topped Joliet in four sets with a score of 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 22-25. Jalyn Vertin had 9 kills, Madeline Hipp 8, and Andie Zadorozny with 7 kills. BriHanna Sawin finished with 34 assists. In game three, the Lady Wolves fell to tournament host Kankakee CC by a score of 13-25, 16-25, 15-25. Sawin, Hipp, Zadorozny, and Vertin all had four kills each. "We need to step it up defensively," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "This upcoming week is going to be tough and we have to be ready to compete." JJC (1-4 overall) hosts N4C conference opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

Lady Wolves win home opener

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team defeated N4C conference opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College by a score of 25-14, 25-5, 25-13. Madeline Hipp led the attack with 10 kills followed by Keanna Campbell with 6 kills. Setter BriHanna Sawin had 30 assists in the contest. "It was nice to get a win in our home opener," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "We need to really come together and play well against #1 ranked Madison." JJC (2-4 overall, 1-0 N4C) travels to N4C conference opponent Madison College on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

Madison takes down JJC

The JJC volleyball team dropped three straight sets to N4C conference opponent Madison College with a score of 18-25, 10-25, 15-25. Madeline Hipp recorded 6 kills in the contest. Andie Zadorozny had 7 digs, as Bianca Jimenez had 6 digs. "Madison is ranked #1 for a reason," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "They are a solid team and we just failed to show up. We will continue to work on being more consistent from the beginning of match play." JJC (2-5 overall, 1-1 N4C) travels to the Lincoln Land Community College tournament on Friday, August 29, 2014.

Lady Wolves split at Lincoln Land Tournament

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team competed in their first tournament of the season at Lincoln Land Community College. In game one, JJC fell to Lake Land Community College by a score of 8-25, 22-25, 20-25. Madeline Hipp had 11 kills, while BriHanna Sawin finished with 20 assists. Andie Zadorozny had 9 digs. In game two, JJC bounced back for a win over Rend Lake College by a score of 25-20, 16-25, 29-27, 25-20. Madeline Hipp earned 16 kills, as Jalyn Vertin had 11 kills. Amanda McLeroy finished with 8 digs, as Bianca Jimenez and Andie Zadorozny added 7 digs. Vertin tallied 6 solo blocks in the contest. "This is a tough tournament with only Division I and II teams and we responded well to the challenge of keeping up," Head Coach Kisha Cameron stated. "I was happy with our battle mindset and hopefully we can continue to build on that." JJC (3-6 overall) continues play at the Lincoln Land tournament on Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Joliet ends tournament in split

The JJC volleyball team continued play at the Lincoln Land Community College tournament. Against Marshalltown Community College, the Lady Wolves fell in three sets by a score of 19-25, 21-25, 12-25. Madeline Hipp had 5 kills and BriHanna Sawin added 16 assists. In game two, Joliet battled out a win against Lewis & Clark Community College by a 25-20, 25-16, 26-28, 25-22 score. Hipp produced 14 kills for the Lady Wolves. Sawin recorded 28 assists, while Bianca Jimenez finished with 8 digs. "This was another tough day and we hung in there and played some good teams," Coach Cameron said. "Our goal this weekend was to battle and we accomplished that." JJC (4-7 overall) travels to N4C conference opponent Harper College on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

Lady Wolves fall to Harper in four sets

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team dropped a four game set to N4C conference opponent Harper College with a score of 13-25, 13-25, 25-23, 9-25. Madeline Hipp had 10 kills for the Lady Wolves. BriHanna Sawin had 19 assists, as Bianca Jimenez had 8 digs in the contest. "After a long and tough weekend, we had a lack of intensity tonight and failed to play together as a team," Coach Kisha Cameron said. "Due to some illnesses, not everyone was able to play 100%. We should be able to bounce back once everyone is healthy and gets some much needed rest." JJC (4-8 overall, 1-2 N4C) hosts Malcolm X College and Black Hawk East College in a tri-match on Friday, September 5, 2014. Game times begin at 4:30 pm.

The JJC volleyball team earned a split decision in a tri-match with Malcolm X College and Black Hawk East College. In game one against Malcolm X, the Lady Wolves won by a score of 25-11, 25-15, 25-10. Madeline Hipp had 13 kills and 6 digs in the contest. Jalyn Vertin produced 7 kills and 2 blocks. BriHanna Sawin had 30 assists, as Bianca Jimenez earned 7 digs. JJC dropped a 5-game decision to Black Hawk East in a very hard-fought match by a score of 29-27, 22-25, 25-15, 17-25, 14-16. Madeline Hipp led the way with 21 kills and 14 digs followed by Jalyn Vertin with 13 kills. Mary Warren added had 10 kills, BriHanna Sawin tallied 53 assists, and Bianca Jimenez produced 13 digs. JJC (5-9 overall) hosts N4C conference opponent Triton College on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

Lady Wolves win against Triton College

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team earned their 2nd conference victory of the season over N4C conference opponent Triton College by a score of 25-15, 25-12, 25-11. Mary Warren led the way with 9 kills followed by Jalyn Vertin with 6 kills. Vertin had 3 solo blocks, while BriHanna Sawin added 23 assists. "We did an excellent job of keeping pressure on our opponent and playing more consistently," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "Our conference is very competitive so we have to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to play our game regularly." JJC (6-9 overall, 2-2 N4C) travels to N4C conference opponent Rock Valley College on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

Rock Valley takes three from Lady Wolves

The JJC volleyball team fell to N4C conference opponent Rock Valley College by a score of 16-25, 21-25, 18-25. Keanna Campbell had 7 kills in the contest. Madeline Hipp produced 9 digs, as BriHanna Sawin earned 18 assists. "Tonight we paid Rock Valley a lot of respect and I think the long drive contributed to a lack of focus and enthusiasm," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "The scores were pretty close across the sets, but it was taking too long for us to get in system. Our offense and defense struggled the whole night. This is another experience that should shape us in a positive manner as the season goes on." JJC (6-10 overall, 2-3 N4C) hosts Olive Nazarene University JV on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Game time is 6:30 pm.

Lady Wolves fall to Olivet Nazarene JV

The Joliet Junior College volleyball team was defeated by Olivet Nazarene University JV by a score of 21-25, 22-25, 21-25. Madeline Hipp paced JJC with 9 kills followed by Jalyn Vertin with 6 kills. BriHanna Sawin added 25 assists. "Tonight was a great showing following the Rock Valley match," Head Coach Kisha Cameron said. "It was nice to see us really battle and play a little harder. At times we were playing much harder than we needed to but we'll learn from that as a team as the season continues. Right now, we are learning the lessons of playing competitively and we'll continue to build on that and keep working on consistency." JJC (6-11 overall) travels to Prairie State College on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Game time is 6:00 pm.

JJC earns victory at Prairie State

The JJC volleyball team defeated Prairie State College by a score of 25-12, 25-20, 25-10. Jalyn Vertin had a team-high 9 kills followed by Madeline Hipp with 6 kills. Bianca Jimenez had 17 digs, while setter BriHanna Sawin produced 25 assists in the contest. "We did a much better job in sets one and three playing aggressive and minimizing our errors," Head Coach Kisha Cameron stated. "While I was glad that we won set two, we played a close game because we lost our focus and became relaxed and error-prone. It was nice to win on the road and allowed our cohesiveness to really start to take better shape." JJC (7-11 overall) travels to N4C conference opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Game time is 7:00 pm at Alverno College.
