JJC Men's Cross Country opens up season
The Joliet Junior College men's cross country team started their season at the Harper/Waubonsee Invitational. Salvador Lazaro paced the Wolves with a 20:43 time for 5th place. Hugo Hernandez finished in 14th place with a 21:43 time. Yovani Rosendo came in at 23:52 (34th), Clay McCormick 24:39 (37th), Zachary Gurley 24:56 (38th), Christian Miranda 25:03 (39th), Anthony Ascolani 25:04 (40th), Erick Roman 27:32 (48th), and Sam Bulthuis 30:15 (51st). "We had a few runners right out of the gate this weekend," Head Coach Rich McCarthy said. "I believe as the season goes on, the rest of the pack will improve their times and continue to get better." The JJC men's cross country team continued their season at the Illinois Intercollegiate Cross Country Championship hosted by Olivet Nazarene University. Salvador Lazaro led the pack with a time of 28:32 for 48th place. Hugo Hernandez came in 58th place with a time of 28:53. Yovani Rosendo clocked in at 31:15 (83rd), Zachary Gurley at 32:53 (86th), Clay McCormick at 33:14 (87th), Anthony Ascolani at 33:16 (88th), Christian Miranda at 33:58 (89th), Erick Roman at 35:34, and Sam Bulthuis at 37:55. "We had some good competition in a bigger meet," Head Coach Rich McCarthy said. "We still have room to improve as the season continues."
