Wolves start the season off on a positive note
The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated Olivet Nazarene University JV by a score of 89-70 in their season opener. Cory Proctor led the Wolves with 21 points followed by Brock Duke with 18 points. Jon Bartlett had 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Shazzon Mumphrey finished with 11 points. "Our team defense was great in the first half," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "We can take many positives from tonight's game and learn from some situations as well." Balanced scoring lifts Wolves over Prairie State
The JJC men's basketball team defeated Prairie State College by a score of 78-52. Shazzon Mumphrey led the way with 14 points shooting 6-of-10 from the field. Jon Bartlett had 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Antoine Cox earned 12 points. Cory Proctor finished with 10 points. "We made some really good team improvement from our first game," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "We still have a ways to go, but we are off to a good start. Wolves fall in overtime to Prince George's
The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team fell to #9 nationally ranked Prince George's Community College by a score of 86-79. Cory Proctor was JJC's leading scorer with 17 points. Antoine Cox tallied 14 points, while Harrison Hines had 12 points, and Jon Bartlett added 11 points. "We were in foul trouble for most of the game," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Prince George's tied the game with 1.6 seconds left in regulation and then just dominated in the overtime." The JJC men's basketball team defeated the Community College of Allegheny County by a score of 77-58. Cory Proctor led the way with 25 points followed by Brian Byrd with 12 points, Jon Bartlett with 10 points, and Reomey Northington with 10 points. "We started out slow, but eventually got into our tempo," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "I was happy to see four players in double figures offensively." The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated Butler County Community College (PA) by a score of 126-64. Five players scored in double figures including Antoine Cox with 25 points, Cory Proctor with 23 points, Harrison Hines with 17 points, Brock Duke with 16 points, and Brian Byrd with 13 points. The Wolves hit 15 three pointers in the game with Cory Proctor connecting on five of them. "Our guys were in the zone today," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. The JJC men's basketball team defeated Robert Morris University JV by a score of 102-33. Shazzon Mumphrey led the Wolves with 25 points on 11 of 15 shooting. He also had 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the contest. Harrison Hines scored 17 points, while Benjamin Daniel finished with 12 points. Brock Duke and Antoine Cox totaled 11 points and 10 points respectively. "I thought our intensity was good and that we played the game right away," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team was defeated by North Lake College (TX) by a score of 85-67. Brian Byrd led the Wolves with 21 points and 5 rebounds followed by Cory Proctor with 15 points. Jon Bartlett had 13 rebounds in the contest. "North Lake played a tremendous game," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Their defense had us bottled up and we didn't shoot the ball well. The JJC men's basketball team earned a 77-63 victory over Richland College (TX). Brian Byrd finished with a team-high 19 points and 15 rebounds. Jon Bartlett scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds, while Cory Proctor earned 14 points. Brock Duke chipped in with 10 points. "This trip was a great experience for us as we played two tremendous NJCAA Division III programs," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Our game today was the first time this season that Bartlett and Byrd were dominant in the same game, and that was the difference." Calvin Lewis scored 17 points off the bench on 7-of-7 shooting, while Alex Vogel had 15 points and 7 assists. "This was a great game for us to win tonight," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Both teams shot the ball well. I think this is the best that we have moved the ball on offense all year and it showed in our production." The JJC men's basketball team earned their 9th victory of the season with an 85-74 win over Illinois Valley Community College. Sophomore Jon Bartlett had a season-high 35 points with 11 rebounds. Brian Byrd scored 19 points, while Brock Duke finished with 10 points. "We are starting to see good signs from this team," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "I really like the flow of our offense the last two games. Our balance has really increased and our ball movement has been outstanding." The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated Richard J. Daley College by a score of 57-45. Cory Proctor and Brian Byrd scored 12 points each, as Jon Bartlett finished with 11 points. The JJC men's basketball team fell to Lake Michigan College (MI) by a score of 92-89 in a double overtime contest. Cory Proctor had a team-high 25 points followed by Brian Byrd with 17 points. Jon Bartlett posted 15 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, while Harrison Hines pulled down 14 rebounds. "This was a typical game that we have had with Lake Michigan over the years," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Although they are not a conference team, we have developed a very good rivalry with them. The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Morton College by a score of 97-65. Jon Bartlett led the way with 28 points followed by Brian Byrd with 23 points. Both Bartlett and Byrd each pulled down 14 rebounds in the contest. Cory Proctor finished with 20 points, as Harrison Hines added 10 points and 10 rebounds. "It seems like it has been awhile since we have played and it is nice to get back to it with a win," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "We have picked up right where we left off before winter break.
