Wolves win home opener
The Joliet Junior College football team defeated Arkansas Baptist College by a score of 37-20 in a non-conference match up.
Running back Cardale Brown led the offense with two touchdowns, followed by Jordan Jarrell and Alonzo Bellamy with one rushing touchdown each. Quarterback Darren Jones connected with receiver Korey Jackson for a 17-yard score. Joe Pergolizzi was good on a 27-yard field goal and four extra point after touchdowns.
Sophomore Blake Rogers led the defense with seven tackles, while Jarvis Smith finished with six tackles. Taylor Perez chalked up one sack for the Wolves and totaled four tackles. Austin Copley also added four tackles.
"We have a lot of freshman on our squad this year," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "They are getting their feet wet and learning, which is great. It's always fun to watch them play."
JJC (1-0 overall) travels to Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Game time is 1:00 pm.
