Wolves open up season with a win
The Joliet Junior College football team defeated non-conference opponent Arkansas Baptist College by a score of 24-16.
In the first quarter, quarterback Christopher Rokita completed a pass to Jawyne Thomas for a touchdown. Kicker Kyle Battle was good on the point after touchdown. The Wolves would score again in the second quarter on a Kyle Battle 24-yard field goal. Dametrius Thomas also scored on an 18-yard rush in the second quarter. Kyle Battle was good for the extra point. In the third quarter, it was Thomas again with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Kyle Battle kicked the final point after touchdown.
Rokita finished 13-30 on the day with 143 total passing yards. Robert Beaver led all rushers with 78 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Brandon Dixon earned 11 tackles (4 solo), while Terrence Baker finished with 6 tackles (2 solo). Jeffrey Brown had five tackles (2 solo) and added two sacks in the contest. Curtis Brown and Aaron Davis both recorded one sack each.
"We battled weather conditions and played hard," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "We did the right things on the football field for the overall win."
JJC (1-0 overall) has a bye week next weekend. Their next contest will be on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Midwest Football Conference opponent Iowa Western Community College. Game time is 1:00 pm.

Wolves fall to #7 Iowa Western
The JJC football team was defeated by Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent Iowa Western Community College by a score of 33-0.
Iowa Western limited the Wolves offense as quarterback Chris Rokita passed for just 139 yards (18-37). Anthony Whitehead led all receivers with 83 yards on 7 receptions.
Kirkland Brinker, Jr. had 9 tackles (3 solo) and Terrence Baker earned 8 tackles (4 solo). Jeffrey Brown finished with 8 tackles (2 solo), Earl Smith had 7 tackles (3 solo), and Joseph Blount added 6 tackles (3 solo).
"When you play a top 10 team, you must make plays with them to have a chance to beat them especially on the road," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "Our team had opportunities to score, but we just couldn't execute our plays."

Wolves bounce back against North Dakota
The Joliet Junior college football team defeated MFC opponent North Dakota State College of Science by a score of 32-16.
The Wolves would score a safety late in the first quarter for their first points of the day. In the second quarter, Courtney Molton ran back a 97-yard touchdown. Anthony Whitehead would catch a 16-yard pass from quarterback Chris Rokita to finish the half. In the third quarter, Grant McClinton scored on a fumble recovery. Robert Beaver scored on a 2-yard run in the 4th quarter. To round out the scoring, Kyle Battle kicked a 39-yard field goal and kicked 3 extra points after touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, Michael Sims had 8 tackles (4 solo), while Brian Dixon had 5 tackles (3 solo). Jeffrey Brown had 7 assisted tackles and 2 sacks for the Wolves. Ali Aqel earned one sack, as Brandon Dixon added an interception.
"The guys really came out focused after last week's game," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "We are happy where we are at right now, but there is still room to grow."

Wolves roll over Ellsworth CC
The JJC football team defeated Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent Ellsworth Community College by a score of 35-28.
Christopher Rokita started the offense in the 1st quarter with two rushing touchdowns. In the 2nd quarter, a 15-yard pass from Rokita to Anthony Whitehead would make the score 21-7 at the half. The Wolves would strike again in the 3rd quarter with a 61-yard Jalen Cooper score. Rokita found the end zone once again in the 4th on a 1-yard run. Kicker Kyle Battle was perfect going 5-for-5 on extra points.
Terrence Baker (12 tackles) and Brandon Dixon (8 tackles) led the defense with 5 solo tackles each. Jeffrey Brown finished with (7 tackles, 3 solo), while Michael Sims had 6 tackles (2 solo). Austin Copley, Jeffrey Brown, and Ali Aqel each earned one sack in the contest. Brandon Dixon recorded an interception.
"We finally got the weight off of our back with a win over Ellsworth," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "Offensively, we knew that we wanted to strike early and often. Our defense also played well and stopped the run."

JJC earns fourth victory of the season over Iowa Central
The Joliet Junior College football team defeated Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent Iowa Central Community College by a score of 22-14.
After starting the 1st quarter down 7-0, the Wolves would get their first score on Kyle Battle's 37-yard field goal. In the 2nd quarter, Courtney Molton scored on a 1-yard run for the Wolves. JJC received 6 more points in the 3rd quarter from Kyle Battle's 26-yard and 28-yard field goals. In the 4th quarter, Molton ran it in for 5-yards on his second score of the day. Quarterback Christopher Rokita completed 21 passes for 237 yards on the day.
Earl Smith and Kirkland Brinker led the defense with 7 tackles each (3 solo). Jonathan Toliver finished with 4 tackles (2 solo). Austin Copley and Jeffrey Brown had one sack each. Earl Smith, Brian Dixon, and Brandon Dixon all recorded an interception.
"I think we're looking pretty good," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "You're not going to make progress in the season if you don't make something happend during the season. We're starting to make somthing happen this year."

Wolves fall short against Air Force Academy
The JJC football team was defeated by a score of 12-3 against the U.S. Air Force Academy JV team.
Kyle Battle provided the only points on the board with a 32-yard field goal in the 2nd quarter.
Curtis Brown and Jinks Arnold led the defense with 4 solo tackles each. Jeffrey Brown earned 2 sacks, as Austin Copley finished with one sack. Jarrell Dillard recorded an interception for the Wolves.
"We didn't seize the moment," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "We had done that so well in the prior games."

Grand Rapids gets by JJC
The Joliet Junior College football team fell to MFC opponent Grand Rapids Community College by a score of 28-7.
Dante Tolbert scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter to provide JJC's only score. Kyle Battle was good on the PAT. Quarterback Christopher Rokita passed for 180 yards (18-for-38) on the day. Vanalari Hope and Courtney Molton both had 5 receptions.
Terrence Baker had 11 tackles (6 solo), while Brandon Dixon recorded 5 solo tackles. Jeffrey Brown had 1 1/2 sacks, as Jonathan Toliver chalked up an interception.
"We had our opportunities in this game," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "You can't have too many mistakes when you play a top 10 ranked team in the country."

Wolves fall to DuPage
The JJC football team was defeated by Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent College of DuPage by a score of 28-9.
In the 1st quarter, Courtney Molton scored on a 8-yard run for the Wolves. In the 2nd quarter, Kyle Battle kicked a 25-yard field goal for the final score of the game.
Jeremy Rivers led the defense with 6 tackles followed by Jeffrey Brown with 5 solo tackles. Brandon Dixon recorded 4 tackles. Brown and Grant McClinton each had one sack, while David Luster and Brian Dixon posted one interception each.
JJC will forfeit their upcoming game against Harper College on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Their final season record is 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the Midwest Football Conference.
