Hi my name is Ebony Hayes. I am a student at JJC and I reside in Homer Glen. I love to dance, eat and talk! I am a hands-on fast learner, creative and adventurous. I have two older stepsisters, an older brother and a younger high school age brother. My older siblings have children that I adore and claim as my own; ages 4 to 15. They are my guineas pigs and case studies that I use for examples and to better understand the developmental milestones of children. Watching and providing care for my young family members really sparked my interest in child care and from there I narrowed the field down to Early Childhood Care and Education. I love children! I love their energy, spontaneity, and quest for knowledge. I find it very important to keep the young learners mind engaged in something new all the time because every day is a new day for new ideas. I want them to be the best that they can be with positive conversation and modeling. In my free time, I baby-sit for my family and neighbors, I tutor at local grade schools, and I assist in my church’s nursery. I am a member of the Elementary Teachers of Tomorrow club (E.T.O.T.) for 3 years, coming this fall 2011. I am a newly enrolled Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member of May 2011 as well. I am a dedicated and faithful member of both campus organizations. I believe that being a member of each organization comes with great social benefits, networking benefits and personal achievements that will help me improve and cause nothing but GREAT success for me.
After JJC, I plan to attend Governors State University and graduate with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood so that I can own and operate local, quality, efficient daycares for parents and caregivers. I also love to travel and would love to travel the world, view the countries and the people. I cannot wait to meet all of the children and have an exciting educational year!
