Stress can be overwhelming for many college students as they try to manage school, work, family and other life issues in pursuit of their educational & career goals. JJC Counselors follow the ethical standards set by the American Counseling Association in providing students a confidential, safe and caring environment to discuss stress and other personal concerns.
Depression is a mood disorder with a disturbance of "mood" as the predominant feature. A person with depression is often sad or melancholy and may have problems with sleeping, eating and experience feelings of hopelessness or helplessness, or express feelings of low self worth or self-esteem. For more information visit ULifeline, an online mental health resource for college students.
Anxiety often increases for college students around exam times and when life stressors seem unmanageable. Students may often experience test anxiety when they feel underprepared for a difficult exam. Taking advantage of our many academic support services, along with developing a solid education plan can go along way in lessening a student's anxiety level while attending JJC. See the educational planning page or visit the Academic Resources page to learn more about academic services at JJC.
