The counselors at Joliet Junior College assist prospective, current, returning, and reverse transfer students with:
Educational Planning and Academic Advising
Counselors work together with you to create an educational plan to help with course selection to meet your career and educational goals.
Academic advisers are faculty members in specific departments who work with students that have declared a major or program of study to select courses for degree completion.
See the educational planning page to begin planning today.
Transfer Planning
Students interested in continuing their education work with counselors to help identify specific courses needed for their major and/or transfer institution.
Students coming to JJC from another institution (reverse transfer) work with counselors to complete their educational goals and select courses not already completed.
See the transfer students page page for more information.
Major/Career Planning
We also assist students in determining a major area of study and career exploration. Students can explore the myriad career options that are available to them in today's workforce. See the major / career planning page to start planning today.
Personal Concerns
We work with students who wish to discuss personal issues in a confidential setting. Our professional counselors can address concerns of stress, anxiety, depression, family issues or other personal problems and provide appropriate community referrals and resources. For more information, go to the personal concerns page.
Crisis Intervention
Crisis Intervention students and staff can contact counseling when an emergency situation arises for assessment and referral related to immediate mental health concerns for JJC students (Self referrals or by others). Go to the crisis intervention page to learn more.
