Students experiencing a crisis situation should inform the Counseling secretary, Main Campus, room A-1154 and he/she will be seen immediately by a counselor. Students can also contact Crisis Line of Will County at (815) 722-3344, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Crisis counseling is confidential except in instances where counselors are required by law or court order to reveal information.
Abuse of Children
Counselors are required to notify proper authorities of any case of substantiated or suspected child abuse or neglect.
Harm to Self
If counselors believe you are in danger of physically harming yourself, they may seek your involuntary admission to a hospital and/or contact a family member or friend who may be able to help protect you.
Harm to Others
Counselors are required to notify proper authorities of any case with intent to do harm to an individual or to society (e.g. through an illegal act).
Whenever possible, we will discuss with you any action that is being considered.
Mental and emotional crisis concerns can range from students experiencing suicidal ideation to paranoid or strange/bizarre thoughts and behavior or a definitive break from reality (memory loss, seeing or hearing voices).
