Library Cards
Students, faculty and staff use their college ID cards to check out materials and to request magazines. Area residents can borrow items by showing a valid library card from their community library. ID cards are created at area D-1010; call 815-280-2709 for further information.
Books and other materials can be renewed if no one else has a request on them. You can renew JJC items at the circulation desk, on the computer catalog, or by calling (815) 280-2665.
The following loan periods apply:
- Books and Playaways:
Student and staff - 4 weeks
Faculty - 16 weeks
- Records and CDs:
Student and staff - 4 weeks
- Videos and DVDs:
Student and staff - 1 week
Overdue Fines/Lost Materials
A restriction will be placed on your library and college records if overdue materials aren't returned. This will hold up your transcripts, grades and registration. Overdue materials are 10 cents a day, with these exceptions:
- There is a $1 per day fine for any reserve material that is overdue.
- Textbooks returned after the 3 hour time limit or removed trom the library will be charged a fine of $1 per hour. After 1 day, a restriction is placed on the student's record.
- Long overdue material fines will not exceed the retail value of the item.
- Lost materials are replaced at the retail value of the item, plus a $10 processing fee.
