The ACT COMPASS program includes a pretesting component called Diagnostics that offers students the opportunity to learn specifically what areas need improvement within the subjects of Prealgebra, Algebra, Reading, and Writing. This program is designed to assist those students who scored into Developmental-Level coursework and want to know specifically what areas need improvement.
Follow the steps below to complete this pretest, receive a score report, and ultimately use your ACT COMPASS study time most effectively by knowing which skill sets to practice and improve upon.
- Apply to Joliet Junior College.
- Complete your ACT COMPASS placement testing.
- Visit the Academic Skills Center at the Main Campus and complete your pretest(s). Each untimed pretest lasts about an hour.
- Receive your score report indicating your weaknesses and strengths within the subject areas.
- If you scored poorly in a particular area, click on the links below to view activities, interactive websites, and other study suggestions. It is highly recommended that you meet with a tutor to discuss these scores.
