Do you have knowledge from life experiences that may relate
to specific courses offered at Joliet Junior College?

What is Credit for Life Experience (Prior Learning)?

In traditional classroom instruction, students are assessed in many ways to determine if they have achieved the learning outcomes required of the course.   These assessments may include, among other processes, exams/quizzes, written communications, and presentations.  In some case, students may have already acquired these learning outcomes from life experiences outside the classroom.  Joliet Junior College has developed processes for awarding college credit without attending formal classes.

College level learning comes from a variety of life experiences such as job responsibilities, community service, travel, hobbies, and/or seminars and workshops.  In all cases of credit without attending formal classes, a maximum of 30 credit hours may be awarded toward graduation.

Ways of obtaining credit for prior experiential learning:

An information meeting will be held every semester
