A New Beginning for Returning Adults
New Start: What is it?
Joliet Junior College affords returning adult students a one-time opportunity to correct poor past academic performance in order to reach new educational goals. After successful completion of 12 JJC credit hours (100+ level courses) with a minimum 2.0 GPA, the student can complete the application process to "forgive" prior grades.
New Start: Who is it for?
New Start is for JJC returning adult students who have not attended any post-secondary educational institution for 36 months preceding re-enrollment into Joliet Junior College. A new vocation or life direction may motivate a student to resume or restart education at Joliet Junior College.
New Start: How do I apply?
Do you qualify for a new start at JJC?
- Review the New Start Policy and criteria for admission and find out.
- Complete and pass the policy quiz, which is a short 5 question analysis on your knowledge of the Policy.
- Print and complete an application and return it to the Admissions Office. Then make an appointment with a counselor to complete your educational plan for a New Start major.
