Standards of Behavior

The Office of Student Activities (OSA) encourages its participants to adhere to
the standards of behavior presented in the Joliet Junior College
Student Code of
Conduct.
OSA expects students and advisors as well as its own staff to behave according to
the values and expectations set forth by the code at all club functions whether
the event is on or off campus.
Because student leaders, advisors and OSA staff act as representatives of the college,
they are often viewed as role models who are held at a higher standard and have
a responsibility to uphold that standard and be aware of the leadership roles they
hold.
Since clubs are required to have a constitution on file with OSA at the time of
renewal or chartering, a section of Standards of Behavior should be included. Each
club is encouraged to have a section in their constitution that speaks to expected
behavior of individuals within the club and the process for addressing inappropriate
behavior of leaders and members.
It is recommended that the club establish procedures for a first offense with subsequent
offenses being sent to the Dean of Student Development for referral to the judicial
process of the Code of Conduct.
If club advisors or student leaders require assistance in handling violations of
the Code of Conduct, staff of OSA is available to help.
Please note that alcohol should not be a part of any on or off campus
college event!
