Arranging for Services

If you qualify for STAR, there are a few things that you are required to do to arrange for services.

  1. Contact STAR at Joliet Junior College and apply for services by calling (815) 280-2230.
  2. Provide documentation of your disability. See the documentation policy for more information.
  3. Request accommodations as soon as possible - preferably at least six weeks before the first day of classes.
  4. Specialized accommodations such as taped textbooks, large print textbooks or a sign language interpreter must be requested in advance to allow StAR a reasonable time period to arrange services.*
  5. You must notify STAR if you no longer wish to utilize a particular accommodation.

*Please note: Sometimes advanced notice of more than six to eight weeks is necessary in order to provide some accommodations!
