Orientation to the College Experience (GSD 100)
Create success from the start by enrolling in Joliet Junior College’s orientation course. In addition
to introducing you to community college life and developing a toolbox of smart skills, you will earn
two transferable credit hours. This course is recommended for all new students.
Portfolio Development (GSD 103)
Have you acquired knowledge from life experiences that may relate to specific courses offered at Joliet
Junior College? This course will guide you in preparing a portfolio that documents your experiential learning.
Your portfolio will be assessed for college credit by a faculty evaluator. This may save money and
significantly shorten the time necessary to earn a college degree. Call for an initial assessment of your
background, which is recommended before registering for GSD 103.

Career/Lifestyle Planning (GSD 110
Are you uncertain about your college major and future career, or uncertain whether you are making
the right choice? This three-credit, transferable course will provide you with a systematic approach to
career and lifestyle planning, and decision-making. This class is offered online as well as in a
traditional class setting.
Job Seeking Skills (GSD 111)
This one credit hour course will provide you with the tools and resources necessary to conduct an
effective job search. Topics include resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job survival skills
via electronic and computer technologies.
