Rules and Guidelines

- No children are allowed in the Academic Skills Center or tutoring room.
- Students must present a photo ID (drivers license, state ID, card, etc.) before
an exam is given.
- If a student does not attend class the student may not be tutored. Tutoring does
not take the place of class. In addition, the student may only be tutored in the
content in which the student is currently enrolled.
- Only ASC staff and tutors are allowed access to the appointment book. Students are
not permitted to enter an appointment or look at the individual tutor's weekly appointments.
- Only one tutoring appointment may be scheduled per subject per week, unless
the student obtains special permission of the ASC instructor.
- If a student is more than 15 minutes late, the appointment is automatically cancelled.
If a student has missed two appointments, the ASC staff has the right not to
make any appointments with that student again during that semester. The student
is permitted to find an available tutor on a walk-in basis.
- Students must arrive at least one hour before closing or the allotted time in order to
take an exam.
- If students are caught cheating on any quiz or test, the instructor will be notified
immediately. Test, notes, etc. will be confiscated and returned to the instructor.
- No one is allowed in the ASC after hours.
- Students who require untimed tests may do so with documentation and permission of
the Coordinator.
- Ear plugs for testing will be distributed as needed for anyone experiencing
distraction due to noise.
- Nothing greater than a TI-86 calculator may be used, and no cell phones are allowed.
