Radiologic Technology Admissions Criteria
Applications for the 2009 class will be available online and in admissions
and nursing offices November 1-30th 2008. If a student chooses to defer or if a
student is not admitted into the desired class, the student will need to re-submit
a new application to be considered. No application will be kept on file after the
start of classes.
Admission Procedure for the Radiologic Technology Program
- All students must meet the following pre-requisites prior to application. Please
read carefully to ensure all steps have been completed.
- Application to the college on file
- High School transcript or GED on file with the Admissions Office
- ENG 101, PSYCH 101, BIO 250, and BIO 151 or waiver from the Natural Sciences Department.
- COMPASS placement test or previous college credit in MATH 094. (Student must place into MATH 098 or better; if student places in MATH
094, it must be completed before application to the radiologic technology program. MATH 101
is not accepted in place of MATH 094. (MATH 098 is not required.)
- Minimum GPA of 2.75
- Admissions to the Radiologic Technology Program will be determined by a point ranking
system. Each eligible applicant will be given a number for anonymity by the admissions
office. Applications will be sent to the Radiologic Technologist Admissions Committee
to be scored and ranked by the following criteria:
- GPA (calculated on courses required for the Radiologic Technology Program only)
- Number of pre-requisite/general education classes completed
- Science courses will be weighted heavier
- TEAS test scores. Qualified applicants will be required to take the ATI Test of
Essential Academic Skills Test (TEAS). The fee for this test will be approximately
$25 paid by applicant. Applicants will be informed and will be sent a letter outlining
available testing dates and procedures.
- The student may also complete additional general education courses specific to the
program. While these courses are not required to be considered for admission, they
will add points to the applicants overall score.
- CIS 101 Computer Basics, 1 credit hour
- BIO 100 Medical Terminology, 3 credit hours
- BIO 251 Anatomy and Physiology II, 4 credit hours
- SOC 290 Cultural Diversity in America, 3 credit hours
- SPCH 101 Principles of Speech Communication, 3 credit hours
- PSYC 215 Live Span/Human Development, 3 credit hours
- Upon admission to the Radiologic Technology program, all students are required
to have on file in the Department of Nursing Education and Allied Health (If granted
admission, the applicant will be informed as to when these requirements must be
completed. The applicant does not need to complete these requirements until notified):
- A current physical examination which includes specified immunization and required
laboratory work
- Verification of successful completion of CPR: type C (specific to health care practitioners)
- Current criminal background check and drug screen
