Marjorie Dernulc
Class of 1998
Marjorie Dernulc came to JJC after becoming a displaced worker in the medical field
for which she worked for 25 years. Marjorie started taking classes as a part-time
student in 1991 and received her degree from JJC in 1998. Currently she works at
the information desk/receptionist for the Student Service Center in D-1010. She
has worked for the college for over 10 years.
Marjorie enjoys volunteer work and helped with the Alumni Ethnic Expos long before
she actually was eligible to be an alumni member. Marj is an Aurora District Officer
for the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Women, as well as active
at the local church level.
Marj has trained to be a certified volunteer for the Greater Chicago Chapter of
the Arthritis Foundation, co-leading a Fibromyalgia Support Group Leader, is PACE
certified, and is a member of the Fibromyalgia Network.
She and her husband Mike are members of the 64th Illinois Company E. Yates Sharp
Shooters Civil War re-enactment group here in Joliet. She travels with others from
her unit to do living histories and re-enactments within a 5-state area. She also
enjoys doing family genealogy research. She and Mike reside in Joliet. They have
a daughter Carol and 2 grandchildren, Malorie Ann and Brandon John.
