Library Cards

Students, faculty and staff use their college IDs to check out materials and to request magazines.  There is a computer terminal for printing your ID at the front of the library.

Checkout and Renewal of Materials

Books and other materials can be renewed if no one else has a request on them.  You can renew JJC items at the circulation desk, on the computer catalog, or by calling (815) 280-2665.

The following loan periods apply:

• Books:
  Student and staff - 4 weeks
  Faculty - 16 weeks
• Records and CDs:
  Student and staff - 4 weeks
• Videos:
  Student and staff - 1 week

Overdue Fines/Lost Materials

 A restriction will be placed on your library and college records if overdue materials aren't returned.  This will hold up your transcripts, grades and registration.  Overdue materials are 10 cents a day, with these exceptions:

• There is a $1 per day fine for any reserve material that is overdue. 
• Overdue telecourse videotapes have a $3 per day fine. 
• Long overdue material fines will not exceed the retail value of the item.
• Lost materials are replaced at the retail value of the item, plus a $10 processing fee.
