What are course reserves?
Materials such as books or photocopied articles are placed on reserve by faculty for students to check out for short periods of time. These materials are kept behind the circulation desk.
How can I search for textbooks and course reserves?
You can search for textbooks and course reserves materials by searching the course name through the online catalog (e.g., SOC 101). The online catalog record will reflect the location as "Circulation Desk."
How do I check out textbooks and course reserves?
In order to check out reserves materials, you need to know your professor's name and the course number. Present this information, as well as your JJC ID, to a staff member at the circulation desk. Fines are charged for overdue reserve items at the rate of $1 per hour.
How can faculty place items on reserve?
Bring your materials to a staff person at the circulation desk and complete the reserves request form. Please allow one week for processing. Contact a librarian at 815-280-2344 with any questions about reserves. Materials from the Library collection can be put on Reserve and we can order materials, if needed.
