Joliet Junior
College has implemented
the use of Cisco Clean Access (CCA) to ensure that all computers connected to
the College's network are patched and protected; and therefore equipped to guard
themselves against malicious software attacks. Malicious software such as
viruses and worms can cause data loss, data theft, and can render a computer
unusable. Cisco Clean Access makes sure that computers connected to the network
are protected, providing all users with a cleaner, safer network.
The Clean Access Agent ensures that each
Windows computer has all necessary operating system updates, automatic updates
enabled, and Trend Micro Antivirus installed with current virus definitions. If
the computer fails to meet one or more of these requirements, the Clean Access
Agent helps the user identify the necessary components which need updating.
Computers are granted full access to the network after they have been fully
updated and protected. Users will be asked to log in using their JJC username
and password to access the network.
In order to use Cisco Clean Access, each
computer must meet specific security requirements, which are listed below:
|

Windows |
-
2000 and XP
ONLY (95/98/Me are not supported)
-
All Critical

-

Apple |
Apple and other operating systems users must log on through their web
browser where they will be scanned for a vulnerability assessment
during their logon. Cisco currently is developing local clients for these OS's,
and the Mac client is anticipated to be available later this year. These users are encouraged to take steps to secure their
computers, such as:
-
Install
operating system patches
-
Use antivirus
software
-
Use a firewall
-
Use a password
for all user accounts
