Clean Access is a network security solution that will provide you with a
secure and clean network environment by preventing infected and vulnerable
machines from joining the JJC network. At the same time, it will provide
necessary directions for machines that do not pass the security requirements.
The College is making every effort to make your network experience productive
and secure. In the past, users, through no fault of their own in most cases, had
difficulty dealing with virus infections and OS vulnerabilities. It has been
determined that the best way to prevent this from happening again is to ensure
that virus software and OS critical updates and patches are current and
maintained.
Each time your PC reboots or comes out of sleep mode you'll have to login to
regain network access. Additionally, every 24 hours your machine will have to
re-validate requiring a login.
The only user intervention required is if the virus definitions are not
current on the Microsoft Windows computer upon logon. This process is automated
and the JJC Anti-Virus server checks for updates every hour. There may be times
when the computer has not synchronized with the most current definition and user
intervention is required. The Clean Access Agent client software and all Windows
Critical OS updates are handled by the IT department and automatically
distributed to the JJC network.
Will
Clean Access change settings on my computer?
The Cisco Clean Access Agent is an unobtrusive program that communicates
exclusively with the Cisco Clean Access servers to ensure that your computer is
protected from malicious software. The Cisco Clean Access Agent will not alter
any settings on your computer, and should not interfere with normal
functionality.
Clean Access Agent is a client application that will check certain security
settings on your Microsoft Windows PC to make sure that your system is
up-to-date with required security patches and report this status to the server.
No information about you is sent to the server. You must use Clean Access Agent
for your Microsoft Windows PC in order to authenticate and use the college
network resources. Current required security settings include: Turning on
Automatic Updates, OS service pack level, critical OS updates and patches,
anti-virus software with the latest virus definitions.
