In addition to the adult race, there will be a Monster Dash, a one-mile race for children 12 and under. The race will use chip-timing that pinpoints when runners cross the finish line, and each participant will receive a finisher’s medal.

Carrie Anderson, alumni relations and annual fund manager, is excited about the improvements made to the race this year.

“2018 is going to be a great year, we have rebranded the event logo and runner hats and are providing early packet pick up as a convenience for the participants," Anderson said. "Proceeds from the fundraiser will continue to go toward scholarships and athletics at the college.”

A plaque and $100 cash will be awarded to the top overall male and female in the 5K. The top male and female winners in each age group will receive a plaque only. Second and third place finishers will get a medal.

All participants are invited to stay after the race for kids’ activities, face painting, candy, food, entertainment and more.

Online registration is now open and will close October 18 at midnight. The 5K is $30 from now until October 14, then increases to $35. The Monster Dash is $15.

The first 500 race registrants in the 5K will receive Haunted 5K winter hats.

New this year is early packet pickup October 17-19.  Details will be sent to registered participants closer to the event.
