Policy and Procedure for Granting JJC Credit for College Level |
Mathematics Courses Completed in High School |
| |
| Courses at Joliet Junior College such as Math 131 (College Algebra) and Math 135 (Trigonometry) and Math 141 (Pre-Calculus) and Math 170 / 171 / 172 (Calculus with Analytic Geometry) are considered college level mathematics courses. Many of these courses are often taught in the high schools of Illinois Junior College District 525. |
| Students who satisfactorily complete Math 141, Math 150, Math 153 or Math 170 (or higher) as their first math course in a sequence after their high school math courses, and at JJC with a "C" or higher, may petition to receive JJC credit for college level mathematics courses taken in high school. The course(s) will be listed on the transcript. The transcript will not include a letter grade for the course(s) for which credit is granted. A sequence is described as the courses that follow each other; i.e., courses that either serve(s) as a prerequisite or have a prerequisite. |
