New Student Orientation

 Welcome NEW STUDENTS

New Student Orientations for fall 2015 will begin Monday, May 4, 2015. All new students planning to attend full-time (12 or more credit hours) are required to attend a New Student Orientation.

Parents and other supporters are welcome to accompany new students to the NSO presentation. Information regarding degree programs, student support services, payment and registration processes will be addressed. Following that 45-minute presentation students will attend the Counseling/Advising portion to receive their first semester schedule and get registered for fall 2015.

Parents and supporters will attend a session to learn more about JJC and tips to support their new college student.

You are ready to attend New Student Orientation if you have completed the following steps.

Step #1: Completed the new student steps.

  • Attention Dual Credit Students:
Currently enrolled dual credit students planning to attend JJC on a full or part-time basis after high school are required to submit a new online application and select "traditional student". (Completing the new application will change their status from dual credit to their proper program of study while attending Joliet Junior College.) It is required that dual credit students attend a New Student Orientation session in order to receive critical information about college programs, services, and resources that will support student success:
  • Attention Student Athletes:
New Student Athletes are those students that have already signed their letter of intent with the Athletic Department and are officially a member of a JJC athletic team. Student-Athletes will access to New Student Orientation dates for student-athletes only.

Step #2: Obtained your JJC username and password. Student must have their JJC username and password with them the day of orientation.

Step #3: Viewed the online new student presentation. This will be available for fall 2015 NSO's on Monday, April 27, 2015. (Be aware the video will take a few moments to load.) You will choose an orientation date, time and location at the end of the video.

  • Print your JJC Academic Summary and New Student Orientation ticket. Students must bring both of these documents the day of orientation.
Students pursuing agriculture or horticulture majors must contact these departments to complete a major-specific orientation for new students. See the Horticulture Sciences Department or Agriculture Sciences Department for more information.
