New Student Orientation

 Welcome NEW STUDENTS

SPRING 2015 New Student Orientation

Registration for Spring 2015 semester courses began October 27, 2014 and the semester begins on January 12, 2015. At this time, New Student Orientations will run through January 9, 2015. The availability of courses for new students seeking full-time status (12 or more credit hours) may be limited.

Students can access the NSO Presentation Video that provides an introduction to the orientation experience at JJC. At the conclusion of the video students will be directed to choose a NSO date, time and location.

New Student Orientation is an important first step towards college success. NSO is an opportunity to learn about Joliet Junior College’s programs, services and resources. You will receive information regarding academic programs, student support services, registration, and payment processes. You will also meet with a counselor or advisor to develop your first semester schedule and get registered for the semester.

* Note to Dual Credit Students

Currently enrolled dual credit students planning to attend JJC on a full or part-time basis after high school are required to submit a new online application and select "traditional student". (Completing the new application will change their status from dual credit to their proper program of study while attending Joliet Junior College.) It is required that dual credit students attend a New Student Orientation session in order to receive critical information about college programs, services, and resources that will support student success

2. Obtained your JJC username and password. Student must have their JJC username and password with them the day of orientation.

3. Viewed the online new student presentation. This will be available for spring 2015 NSO's on Monday, October, 20, 2014. Be aware the video will take a few moments to load.

4. Picked an orientation date, time, and location. Please be aware that NSO is  approximately 2 & 1/2 hours in length.

Parents and other supporters are welcome to attend the new student orientation presentation. Following the presentation parents and family supporters will have an opportunity to ask questions while the student is in the counseling/registration session.

5. Print your JJC Academic Summary and New Student Orientation ticket.  Students must bring both of these documents the day of orientation.

Students pursuing agriculture or horticulture majors must contact these departments to complete a major-specific orientation for new students. See the Horticulture Sciences Department or Agriculture Sciences Department for more information.
