JJC Photography Class Helps Local Charity
The Advertising and Still Life Photography class offered at Joliet Junior College was recently featured in an article on the front page of the Herald News. The article explained how JJC’s life-long learning class offered through Corporate and Community Services has helped a local charity called Pits for Patriots – a new organization that brings together trained pit bulls and disabled veterans. Students in the class, under the direction of instructor Gene Alvear, held a free photo shoot to complete their assignments. Sadie is a little black dog with a mission. Silver Cross Hospital has accepted Sadie and her owner as a pet therapy team that will promote the healing process for patients by giving them the opportunity to pet and love a warm affectionate little dog.

JJC Trains Owners and Dogs to Become Good Citizens
Last March, Sylvia Erickson saved the life of a nine month old mixed breed puppy by adopting it from a humane Society in Darien, Illinois. Sylvia named the little black dog Sadie and spent the next nine months giving her the love and attention she would need to become a true friend and hero. Today, Sadie is an accomplished dog. She is certified as a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) by the American Kennel Club (AKC). If she could talk, Sadie would say she owes it all to Sylvia and Joliet Junior College. Read More
