Computer Information Systems

The entire world has become an information-based society. Employees with well-developed computer qualifications are needed for many information processing and interpretation positions.

Employment opportunities related to the Computer Information Systems curriculum are plentiful: computer operator, computer programmer, computer support personnel, data processing clerk, information center employee, information processing specialist, microcomputer operator/programmer, microcomputer specialist, office automation, programmer/analyst, systems analyst, technical support, networking, networking support, help desk support, training, and a host of other position descriptions.

CISCO / CNT Program

Cisco / CNT -Cisco Networking Academy provides classroom instruction, online content, interactive tools, and lab activities to prepare individuals for networking careers in virtually every type of industry. JJC offers full training programs geared towards Cisco's CCNA and CCNP certifications. Classes are taught by certified Cisco professionals. As an added benefit, students enrolled in the Cisco program at JJC have access to Cisco career connection. As an extension of the Cisco Networking Academy Program, Career Connection seeks to link Networking Academy students and graduates with employers who are looking for job-ready IT and Networking candidates.

Digital Media Production

Digital Media Production AAS will provide students with career opportunities and hands-on experience in varied areas in the Digital Media field. The courses in the program will teach students the concepts and provide them with hands-on experience in digital media capture, management and tools in the areas of digital imaging, video editing and manipulation, motion graphics, audio production, 3D modeling, animation and visual illustration. Students will produce a variety of digital media projects in each of these areas as well as integrating them into complete final productions.

GAME Program

The GAME Program at JJC teaches students the fundaments of both game design and game development, with both an A.A.S. degree and a Certificate of Achievement offered through this curriculum. 

Health Information Management (H.I.M.)

JJC’s Health Information Management Technology program prepares students for the critical role they will play as health information management professionals. HIM professionals manage all patient healthcare records, both computer-based and paper, administer computer information systems, and code the diagnoses and procedures for healthcare services provided to patients. Health information management professionals also ensure data validity and appropriate access to individual healthcare records. 

Office Systems

There are 9 career options, including Associate in Applied Science degrees in administrative assistant, medical administrative assistant, and visual graphics. The Administrative Assistant programs at JJC offers a curriculum that includes the latest technology and skills and the use of computer-based word processing, spreadsheets, database, and accounting software in the performance of office functions. Courses are designed for students entering the curriculum for the first time and for students preparing for a return to the work force or making a career change. The Visual Graphics Certificate includes a foundation in basic courses relating to design software and is designed for students seeking immediate entry-level employment in the industry. The Associates Program adds general education courses, more advanced graphic arts courses, and a portfolio of projects to showcase for job interviews or university applications.
