When looking back on a season whether good or bad, one can always find the turning point when the team started coming together or the point when it all fell apart.

For the Joliet Junior College women’s softball team, the turning point was a doubleheader against the College of DuPage on April 3. Entering the games, the Lady Wolves record was 4-10. They swept COD winning 5-3 and 10-8.

Since the wins over COD, the Lady Wolves have won 15 of 25, improving their record to 19-20 overall and 11-2 in the N4C. They are currently ranked 8th in the Ringor/NJCAA Division III poll.

The Lady Wolves recently split a doubleheader with Madison Area Technical College on April 26 in Joliet. They won the first game 5-3 behind the pitching of Kate Votta. She gave up five hits and struck out four to get the win. Kim Samples led the offense with two hits and Sarah Kessler had an RBI.

In the second game the Lady Wolves were shutout 6-0. The offense managed only one hit.

Prior to the doubleheader against Madison, the Lady Wolves were swept in a doubleheader by Sauk Valley Community College on April 25 in Joliet.

They fell 6-5 in Game 1. Ashley Paxson and Nichole Salazar led the way with 2 hits apiece. Salazar added an RBI.

In Game 2, they fell 11-1. Kessler doubled in the lone run for the Lady Wolves.

The Wolves will next be in action when they host the Region IV Division III Tournament May 2-3 at Inwood. The winner will advance to the World Series.
