JJC Jazz Band Spring Concert
The annual JJC Jazz Band Spring Concert, directed by Mr. Charles Morgan, is happening Friday, May 2, at 7:30 in the Fine Arts Theatre on Main Campus. Special guest band is Joliet Central High School Jazz band will be opening the concert. The JJC jazz band will be performing many jazz classics and standards throughout the night. Joining the fun will be student jazz vocalist Paige DeChausse, along with several other student band solos. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for senior citizens, non-JJC students, JJC faculty and staff; and $2 for JJC students. The JJC Band is open for a non-credit or credit course. SPRITE Super Saturday
Join the SPRITE Club as they host a fun filled day for children 3-8 years-old on Saturday, May 3, from 10 -2 p.m. in the Early Childhood Center on Main Campus. A ‘kid friendly lunch,’ readings, games and other activities will be available throughout the day. The cost for the day is $18. Call the Early Childhood Center at (815) 280-2280.
Fine Arts Honors Recital
Joliet Junior College Fine Arts Department will present the 2008 Student Honors Recital on Thursday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the main campus. Students that will perform were selected through an audition process and chosen by music faculty. The general public is welcome to attend this recital of classic music literature. There is no admission charge. A reception will immediately follow the recital. Contact the Fine Arts Department for more information.
Open House and Registration
The Joliet Junior College Early Childhood Center is having an open house and registration day on Friday, May 9, from 9-noon on Main Campus. Take a tour of the facility and meet the staff while your child enjoys popcorn and crafts. The ECC offers programs for children 3-5 and will be open for the Summer sessions. Credit for Life Informational Meeting
Visit the Credit for Life Experience Information Meeting for adults on Tuesday, May 13, at 6:30-7:45pm in T1001 on Main Campus. Adults can learn ways to earn college credit for their life experiences through CLEP and proficiency tests, portfolio development, and transcript evaluation. 2008 Art Students’ Juried Exhibit Through May 2
This annual competitive exhibition of student work from studio art classes at JJC will be held through May 2 in the Laura A. Sprague Art Gallery. Michael Hart, lecturer from Governors State University, will present a critique on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. The gallery, located on the second floor of the J-Building, will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the exhibit. The public is cordially invited to view the works in the gallery and attend the critique.
JJC Partners with McKendree to Offer Bachelor’s Degree
Take your associate degree to the next level with a bachelor of business administration degree through JJC’s new partnership with McKendree University. In this partnership, blended classes comprise a face-to-face instruction and an e-learning format. The degree can be completed in as little as 24 months when two courses are completed every eight weeks. Classes are affordable and conveniently held one evening per week. Financial aid is available to those who qualify in the form of Pell grants, MAP grants and student loans.
