Harper
downs Wolves in season opener
The Joliet
Junior College football team was defeated 45-14 in the season opener
against Midwest Football Conference (MFC) opponent Harper College.
Quarterback Chris Walley (16-of-31, 158 yards) hooked up with Tim
Huguley for a 57-yard scoring pass. Huguley rushed for 16 times for 60
yards and caught two passes for 71. Teray Whisby (9 catches, 108 yards)
caught a 22-yard pass for a TD from Sam Lamur for the other Wolves
score. Anthony Echols led the defense with six solo tackles. Jonathan
Simmons, Devin Mack, and Rod Harrington had four solo tackles each. "No matter how good you are, turnovers almost always determine
who wins and who loses," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "Harper came
in here with a good team and played well. They didn't turn it over." JJC
(0-1 overall, 0-1 MFC) travels to MFC opponent College of DuPage on
Saturday, September 6, 2008. Game time is 1:00 pm.

Richardson
gets first win as head coach in OT
The JJC
football team pulled out a thrilling overtime victory against Midwest
Football Conference opponent College of DuPage by a score of 23-17. QB
Chris Walley stepped up for the win with a 5-yard touchdown run in
overtime. Kicker Tom Lynch forced the overtime on a 36-yard field goal
with 3 seconds remaining in regulation. Walley (13-of-26, 157 yards)
hooked up with Brandon Williams in the opening drive for a 28-yard
touchdown pass. Tim Huguley scored on a 2-yard run in the second
quarter. The Wolves were tough on defense stopping DuPage twice on their
goal line. Anthony Echols had nine solo tackles and Greg Preston had 7
solo tackles. P.J. South and Jordan Delegal had six solo tackles each.
"This was a good one to get," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "The
kids stayed tough and were able to pull out the victory." JJC (1-1
overall, 1-1 MFC) hosts MFC opponent Iowa Central Community College on
Saturday, September 13, 2008. Game time is 1:00 pm.

Wolves lose
heartbreaker to Iowa Central
The Joliet
Junior College football team was defeated by Midwest Football Conference
opponent Iowa Central Community College by an 8-3 score. Due to poor
field conditions at Memorial Stadium, the game was moved on campus to
the JJC football practice field. Justin Zeeb scored the Wolves only
points with a 32 yard field goal late in the second quarter. Quarterback
Chris Walley was 7-17 for 97 yards, while running back Tim Huguley
produced 43 yards in the sloppy field conditions. Marquis Harmon pulled
in six receptions for 80 yards. Defensively Anthony Echols had 9 solo
tackles and Trey Jackson had 7 solo tackles and one sack. "Sure the
weather and field conditions had a lot to do with this game, but both
teams had to contend with these conditions," Head Coach Jeremy
Richardson said. "I thought the entire team fought hard. Whether you win
or lose, it is a whole team effort." JJC (1-2 overall, 1-2 MFC) travels
to MFC opponent North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday,
September 20, 2008. Game time is 1:00 pm.

JJC falls
short to North Dakota
The JJC
football team was defeated by Midwest Football Conference opponent North
Dakota State College of Science by a score of 33-21. Chris Walley
(12-16, 157 yards) connected with Tim Huguley for a 10 yard score.
Mitchell Moore scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run for the Wolves. Carlos
Johnson recovered a fumble in the end zone for the final Wolves score.
Justin Zeeb scored two PAT's, while Thomas Lynch had one point after
touchdown. Anthony Echols continued to lead the defense with seven solo
tackles and seven assisted tackles. Matt Lepper and Jordan Delegal both
had six solo tackles each. Trey Jackson recorded two sacks, while P.J.
South added one sack. "We had some turnovers which stopped drives and
hurt our momentum," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said. "We'll have to
pick it up next week and get back on track." JJC (1-3 overall, 1-3 MFC)
hosts North Iowa Area Community College on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
Game time is 6:00 pm.

Wolves win
one at home
The Joliet
Junior College football team defeated Midwest Football conference
opponent North Iowa Area Community College by a score of 21-18. In the
first quarter, Chris Walley (9-23, 144 yards) hooked up with Taraus
McKinley for a 50-yard touchdown pass and Tim Huguley scored on a 1-yard
run. In the third, Marquis Harmon caught a 10-yard pass but fumbled the
ball. Carlos Johnson picked up the loose ball and ran for a 77-yard
score. Justin Zeeb was 2 for 2 on PAT, while Thomas Lynch was 1 for 1.
Taraus McKinley totaled 101 yards on 5 receptions for the Wolves. Rod
Harrington had six solo tackles and a 15-yard interception. Rashad
Jackson had five solo tackles, while Anthony Echols had four solo
tackles and a 3-yard interception. P.J. South recorded one sack. "I saw
everything about my guys today," Head Coach Jeremy Richardson said.
"Adversity has been killing us and we finally know how to beat it. We
just have to make sure that we can ride this out and keep it going." JJC
(2-3 overall, 2-3 MFC) travels to Ellsworth Community College on
Saturday, October 4, 2008. Game time is 2:00 pm.
