JJC opens up season with win at home

 

The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team opened up the 2008-2009 season with a 71-63 victory over Daley College. Sophomore Teray Whisby led the way with 13 points. Charles Watson posted 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Brandon Redmond scored 11 points. Ivan Smith added 7 points and 5 rebounds. "I thought is was good to get the first win of the season on our home court," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "I am really excited to see how our guys compete this year." JJC (1-0 overall) travels to Truman College on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Game time is 7:00 pm.

Wolves win one on the road against Truman

 

The JJC men's basketball team stayed perfect with a 71-59 road victory against Truman College. Leading the way for the Wolves was Brandon Redmond with 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting. Teray Whisby added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while LeAaron Pierce scored 11 points. Ivan Smith posted 8 points and 10 rebounds. "We need to improve our decision making with the ball and toughen up on defense," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Our rebounding and inside game is carrying us right now." JJC (2-0 overall) travels to the annual Madison Area Technical College tournament where they take on Gogebic Community College on Friday, November 14, 2008. Game time is 4:00 pm.

Joliet gets past Gogebic CC

 

The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated Gogebic Community  College (MI) by a score of 68-66. Charles Watson led the Wolves with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Taylor's hot shooting in the second half helped keep JJC alive with Taylor nailing four 3-point shots totaling 14 points for the game. Teray Whisby added 9 points and 11 rebounds. "This one wasn't pretty, but we'll take it," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Charles' big game was a difference, as was the play of Mike Taylor." JJC (3-0 overall) takes on Madison Area Technical College (WI) for the tournament championship on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Game time is 4:00 pm.

Wolves win Madison Tech Tournament

 

The JJC men's basketball team defeated Madison Area Technical College by a score of 79-63 to claim the MATC Tournament Championship. LeAaron Pierce was red hot for the Wolves scoring 22 points on 6 of 12 shooting from behind the arc. Teray Whisby had 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Brandon Redmond scored 12 points, while Lamar Williams and Charles Watson added 10 points each. "Our defense was outstanding, especially in the first half," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. When you can hold an outstanding offensive team on their floor to 63 points, 22 in the first half, you have played well." JJC (4-0 overall) travels to Oakton Community College on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Game time is 7:00 pm.

Joliet stays perfect with win over Oakton

 

The Joliet Junior College men's basketball team defeated Oakton Community College by a score of 81-71. Leading the way for the Wolves was Lamar Williams with 17 points followed by Teray Whisby and LeAaron Pierce with 16 points each. Charles Watson added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Whisby pulled down 15 rebounds in the contest. "This was one of our best games so far," Head Coach Joe Kuhn said. "Balanced scoring all around is key." JJC (5-0 overall) hosts Milwaukee Area Technical College on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Game time is 3:00 pm.
