Doug Ostrem
Class of 1968
Doug Ostrem is currently on the Public Relations Committee of the JJC Alumni Association Board of Directors. He is employed at Horace Mann Insurance.
After attending JJC (1966-1968) he finished his undergraduate degree at Illinois State University. Doug later went on to graduate school at Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois.

Doug is married to Mary, who is a former teacher and current Social Service Director for a Joliet nursing home. Doug’s daughter, Sarah is also a JJC alum and a recent graduate of Lewis University.

Doug hopes that his life-long, local perspective and many long-term friendships are of value in implementing programs, now and in the future, to keep the JJC Alumni Association strong and vibrant. A brief inscription in the Joliet Junior college catalog from 36 years ago has stayed with him thee many years: “A part of every heart will linger here…” I hope that through our efforts on the Alumni Board all future alumni will feel likewise and that it will enrich their lives.
