On June 12, 2005 the Joliet Junior College Alumni Association hosted the 24th Annual Alumni Brunch in partnership with Joliet Township High
School. The event honored the JJC classes of 1955, 1965 and 1975. Skip Griparis ‘69, nationally renowned comedian, was the master of ceremonies. Over
250 Alumni and friends of the College were in attendance.
Celebrating its 35th Anniversary, the JJC Alumni Association was honored to commemorate one of the association’s founding members,
Dr. Thomas Streitz ’52. Dr. Streitz was the recipient of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award. Dr. Thomas Streitz
was born in 1931 in Joliet, IL and attended Joliet Central High School, Joliet Junior College and Loyola Dental School. He served in the United States
Air Force from 1956-58 as a captain, taught at the dental residence program at Lackland Air Force base and coached the Lackland Air Force Base
Football team. Over the years he has contributed to Joliet and Will County by serving on boards and being a member of organizations for which he has
received numerous awards. Dr. Streitz was instrumental in founding the JJC Alumni Association. In October of 1970 he was elected to serve as the
Associations first president. He has practiced dentistry for 49 years (presently practicing with his son, Dan Streitz, D.D.S., M.A.G.D). He and his
wife Susie (Davis) Streitz ’51 have four children and 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Robert Klein was honored for his support and dedication to the College by being inducted into the Susan H.
Wood Hall of Fame. He has served on the JJC Foundation Board of Directors since 1997. His contributions to the College have been significant.
Mr. Klein attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL before enlisting in the United States Air force in 1956. He attended navigator training and was
commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant Reserve Officer in 1958. He received the rank of Major in 1968. He has flown for TWA as a pilot and flight engineer,
served in the Air Force Reserve at Chicago O’Hare and today Bob is the President and CEO of Award Emblem Manufacturing, Co., Inc. He is very involved
in several communities including Joliet, Bolingbrook and Darien. He serves on the Greater Joliet YMCA Board of Directors; Lewis University President’s
Council, Provena St. Joseph Divisional Board of Directors, University of St. Francis President’s Business Council, Joliet/Will County Center for
Economic Development Board and is a member of the Darien Rotary Club to name a few of the many organizations he contributes to. Bob lost his beloved
wife in August of 1997. He and his two sons, R. Jason and Justin Glenn have resided in Darien for over 30 years.
Guests of the brunch enjoyed a gourmet buffet prepared by Chef Kyle Richardson, Chef Eric Olsen, Chef Keith Von Hoff and JJC Culinary Arts students. A
tour of the Joliet Historical Museum was offered at the conclusion of the brunch. The 2006 Alumni Brunch will be held on Sunday, June 11 beginning at
