ACT COMPASS Placement Testing
All new full-time students must complete the entire ACT COMPASS Placement Test prior to registering for classes. Other students may have to complete all or a portion of the test depending on which courses and programs of study they wish to pursue. The full test is composed of reading, writing, and math testing. Geometry is an additional placement test available for those students wishing to test out of certain math courses. For more information please visit the Academic Skills Center website.
StAR (Student Accomodations and Resources)
Student Accommodations and Resources (STAR) is the office designated by the college to determine if students attending the college who request accommodations are eligible to receive accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
New Student Orientation (NSO)
New first-time, full-time students are required to attend the New Student Orientation (NSO) and eRegistration session. This session will answer general college questions and assist your student in registering for his/her first semester.
JJC Connect is designed for new students (full-time, part-time, adult, veteran, etc.) to get to know JJC before beginning classes. Students will get a chance to meet each other as well as faculty and staff, learn about paying for college, campus life, college resources, and much more. Register for the JJC Connect session that fits your schedule. Family members are invited to attend with students!
Scholarships and Paying for College
Joliet Junior College's tuition rates vary by residency in Illinois Community College District 525. Our Financial Aid Office can assist you in finding options to pay for college. When applying for financial aid by way of the online FAFSA form, JJC's Title IV School Code is 001699. Additionally, you can investigate and assit your student in applying for scholarships. See the scholarships page for more information. Most scholarship deadline dates are before April 1st of the upcoming school year. The Financial Aid Department hosts workshops on filling out the FAFSA and applying for scholarships.
